Hoai Thuong of Hanoi postponed buying tickets for a family trip to Tuy Hoa in central Vietnam in May because prices remained high, with a round-trip journey for her family of three costing around VND10 million (US$380).
When she checked fares again on June 22, the fares had fallen to just over VND8.7 million, prompting her to book the tickets.
"Airfares usually rise during the peak summer travel season, so I was surprised to find such attractive prices," she said.
Van Hung of Hanoi bought round-trip tickets to Da Nang on June 10 for VND4 million, and discovered less than two weeks later the fares had dropped to VND3.6 million.
On the Hanoi-Nha Trang route, early July round-trip fares were available from around VND3.8 million, with flights with convenient timings costing about VND5.2 million, down from VND5.8 million in late April.
