Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor is raising the bar for battery capacity with the mid-range X80 Pro Max – and it's lighter than a Galaxy S26 Ultra or an iPhone 17 Pro Max, whose energy storage is not even half as large. The company is also breaking new ground in display brightness. So far, Honor has only presented the phone for the Chinese market.

Visually, the new model resembles other models in Honor's Magic8 series due to the rear camera ring, but the other devices in the family do not offer the new superlatives that the manufacturer has packed into the X80 Pro Max. The other two devices have batteries of up to 7500 mAh (Magic8 Lite) installed, while Honor uses a battery with 11,000 mAh in its Pro Max. The device supports wired charging at up to 90 watts and can also be used as a power bank. For example, the Honor device can charge other smartphones with up to 27 watts via a USB-C cable.

Despite the massive battery, which could potentially provide up to three days of runtime, the smartphone weighs only 203 grams with a thickness of 8.08 mm, according to Honor. The Galaxy S26 Ultra with its 5000 mAh battery weighs 214 g, the iPhone 17 Pro Max 233 g with a 5088 mAh battery.
