A major Australian airline is giving kids and their teddies an extra special way to travel with the launch of special boarding passes for children’s toys. Virgin Australia is rolling out Toy Tickets, a special boarding pass dedicated to children’s toys, teddies and other stuffed loved ones.Parents can request a personalised boarding pass for their child’s teddies or toys, available at the check-in or at Virgin Lounges across the country. The dedicated boarding passes have been launched after a little boy was reunited with his teddy bear left on a Virgin flight in 2023.While the bear was stuck on its unplanned journey, it was snapped wearing Virgin Australia’s uniform, working at the pilot’s cockpit and yearning for its owner from the window seat.The beloved teddy bear was finally reunited with the little boy, sparking the new boarding pass dedicated to toys. Virgin chief marketing and customer operations officer Libby Minogue said the lost toy “reminded us just how important these treasured companions are to children”.“The global response to reuniting a young boy with his lost teddy was extraordinary, withmessages pouring in from all corners of the world,” she said. “With more than 1.2 million children flying with us every year, we know many young travellers bring a favourite toy along for the journey and how much it means when those special items make it safely home.”The launch is also part of Virgin Australia’s collaboration with Disney and Pixar’s latest film Toy Story 5. The boarding passes have been decorated with a Toy Story 5-themed aircraft as well as the film’s main characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. Ms Minogue said the Toy Tickets would help make the plane journey more memorable for kids. “Toy Tickets are a uniquely Virgin Australia way of celebrating these special travel companions and make family holidays even more memorable from the moment our guests arrive at the airport,” she said.
