The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has expressed a personal desire to outlaw all tinted vehicles across the country if the decision were solely his to make.
According to him, fully tinted vehicles pose serious security risks and are frequently used by kidnappers, armed robbers and one-chance operators.
Disu stated this in Abuja while responding to concerns raised by Nigerian Bar Association President, Afam Osigwe (SAN), who opposed the renewal and commercialisation of tinted glass permits but said the association had no objection to the police regulating their use.
Earlier, Osigwe argued that while the NBA supported police oversight of tinted glass permits, the process should not be turned into a revenue-generating venture.
“Let me state that in principle, the NBA does not oppose the idea of police granting a permit for tinted glass.
