Ukraine has submitted an updated official application for membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and hopes to receive candidate country status this autumn.
President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote this on the social network X, Ukrinform reports.
"I met with the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Mathias Cormann. Ukraine’s membership in the OECD is very important to us. And today, we are taking a step in this direction – the Prime Minister submitted Ukraine’s official updated application for OECD membership. We hope to receive candidate status as early as this autumn. The next stage is a roadmap toward OECD membership. We discussed this during the meeting," Zelensky wrote.
According to him, special attention is being paid to Ukraine's progress on the path to European integration and to the implementation of reforms needed to move quickly toward EU membership.
The sides also discussed the implementation of the EU financial support package, tougher sanctions against Russia, and contacts with partners. "I am grateful to Mathias Cormann and the OECD for their support for our people on our path of reforms and toward peace," the President added.
