The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading a viral social media claim alleging that schoolchildren and teachers abducted from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area of the state had been moved to Kaduna State in a helicopter.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the video making the rounds on social media is entirely false, unverified, misleading, and devoid of any factual basis.
The police said the claim, which touches on the sensitive issue of the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers, lacked credibility and should be disregarded by members of the public.
The statement read, “The attention of the Oyo State Police Command has been drawn to a misleading and unfounded video currently circulating on social media, alleging that the abducted school children and teachers from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota Communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been moved to Kaduna State via a helicopter.
