In the latest attack on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) workers, a senior staff member is lucky to be alive and unharmed after hijackers fled with a double cab response vehicle in Khayelitsha, which was later found damaged with its canopy missing and dashboard ripped open.

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness said the staff member was targeted in Khayelitsha on Monday around 3pm while travelling to the base in the area.

She was left unharmed but traumatised.

Details about where the vehicle or the employee was found have not been disclosed as yet.
