NBC's Savannah Guthrie has said her family are in 'agony' after the kidnappers of her mother, Nancy, have alleged that she has died, four months after she was last seen17:52, 23 Jun 2026Updated 17:59, 23 Jun 2026Savannah Guthrie broke down as she discussed her mother Nancy's alleged death. On January 31, this year, her mother, Nancy, was last seen near her home in Tucson, Arizona, and is believed to have been taken against her will.‌Since the devastating night, her family have been working to try and locate her. However, a ransom note has since claimed that Nancy is dead and offered an apology before claiming her body could be delivered for $4million. It added that the kidnappers did not mean to kill her, but she died shortly after her disappearance.‌However, the note is yet to be authenticated. But as Savannah addressed the latest update on the Today show, she burst into tears while begging viewers for assistance.‌She said: "I can't pretend I'm not here, and so, since I am, I wanted to just take the opportunity to ask people, to really to beg people, to come forward. Somebody knows something."Savannah continued: "This is a news story today that is on your radar, but this is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live every day, and we are in agony.‌"We cannot be at peace, no matter how much I try to come out here every day and smile and find that joy, and I will, I promise I will. This is a moment to tell you that we need your help.‌"We're begging for your help, and I’m not gonna miss that opportunity. Please do the right thing for us, for our family, for our children. We love our mom, and we'll never stop looking for her ever."Since their mother's disappearance, Guthrie and her siblings, Camron and Annie, have made multiple pleas on social media directed at her mother's alleged kidnappers and begging for her to return home.Guthrie, a prominent morning TV presenter in the US, temporarily stepped away from Today, stood down from NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics in February, and returned in April.‌Sources close to the investigation surrounding claims Nancy was dead, told Air Mail, in a piece published Saturday, that the message arrived on February 6. At the time, Savannah said: "I believe the two notes that we received that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real."She later seemed to come to terms with the fact her mum might be dead. She offered $1 million for Nancy's return and said: "We know that she may be lost."She may already be gone... And if this is what is to be, then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is. We need her to come home."Article continues belowIn recent days, a retired FBI agent shared her theory about the identity of the masked man caught on Nancy Guthrie's doorbell cam after the footage became a huge part of the investigation. As the search for the mother of the TODAY Show host is soon to enter its fifth month, authorities have yet to identify any suspect or suspects in the case. In February, the FBI released recovered doorbell camera footage from Nancy's home as well as still images of a masked and armed person on her porch. The suspect was wearing gloves, a backpack, and a gun holster and was tampering with the camera. Officials discovered DNA from gloves and sent it out for DNA testing, but there was no match in the FBI's Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). The Pima County Department, which is working with the FBI in Nancy's case, had stated that they were going to utilise investigative genetic genealogy to analyse the DNA evidence. There has been no update on whether that method has led to any results.
