The Kerala High Court has granted time till July 8 to K. Sudhakaran, MP, to appear before it in person in a contempt of court case, after he failed to appear on Tuesday (June 23, 2026) citing illness. This was after his counsel informed the court that he was unwell and sought additional time for his personal appearance.Mr. Sudhakaran had tendered an unconditional apology before the High Court on Monday regarding his remarks about the High Court Bench that quashed a single judge’s verdict that had ordered a CBI probe into the murder of Youth Congress leader S.P. Shuhaib.Mr. Sudhakaran admitted to making derogatory statements against the High Court at a public function and stated that the remarks were of “a purely momentary and impulsive nature and were not the result of calculated, malicious intent”. He had made the alleged statement while inaugurating a protest march by Congress workers to the Chavakkad police station. The court had made it clear that it would consider the apology only after he appeared in person.
