The Pitt actor reveals tonsil cancer diagnosis at age 4617:08, 23 Jun 2026Updated 17:08, 23 Jun 2026The Pitt actor, Moshe Kasher, has revealed that he is undergoing treatment for oropharyngeal cancer at the age of 46, as he detailed the painful surgery.‌The actor shared his story on social media revealing he was diagnosed with early stage one cancer, which he discovered after finding a 'bump' on his tonsil while filming in Savannah with director Judd Apatow and actor Glenn Powell.‌"It was cancer. Which did not rule so hard," he wrote on Instagram. "Two days ago, a Jewish surgery robot at Cedars-Sinai yanked my jaw open for 5 hours and cut it out and then slit my throat and dissected my neck leaving me with a hardcore neck scar which will make people reluctant to street fight me.‌"My tongue was clamped and yanked out of my mouth and is so swollen and bruised. I sound like I Am Sam," he said sharing a diagram of the surgery her experienced."This has been the most terrifying and consciousness consuming experience of my life. My life has been terror, meditation, tears, and medical planning (oh and 12 hour days on set pitching jokes)."‌He then added that he was in pain but hopeful: "I'm in pain and I'm in the middle of a very difficult process. It's gonna be a long summer. But the good news is the cancer I have has an incredibly high cure rate (in the 95% zone). I will find out next week if I need radiation or not but regardless I will be okay and back to being a cool dude ASAP."He also joked that he got the cancer from sex as it forms as part of the HPV virus, and then added on a serious note: "I'm so grateful I have a life that's worth living and a kid to raise this Father's Day."He added that he couldn't believe that he managed to create a movie while doing this, but complimented Director Judd Apatow, saying he couldn't have been more "supportive".‌Apatow commented on the post with his support, telling Moshe: "You couldn’t be a kinder, stronger, funnier person. In the show, the stand-up comedian played a character called Samuel Jacob, an American Sign Language Interpreter who helps deaf patients.
