Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday (June 23, 2026) paid tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 73rd “Balidan Diwas”, describing him as a profound thinker and a great nationalist.“The sacrifice and patriotism of Dr. Mookerjee ji, who dedicated his entire life to the resolve of ‘Nation First’, serve as a guiding light for all of us. His sacrifice inspires every worker to continuously work with dedication in the interest of the nation,” he said.Stating that the dream Dr. Mookerjee envisioned and the sacrifices he made for it were finding fulfilment today, the BJP chief said the abrogation of Article 370 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a true tribute to the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.Mr. Nabin said Dr. Mookerjee had worked to protect the borders of regions such as West Bengal, Assam and Punjab. Referring to the formation of the BJP government in West Bengal, he said it reflected the acceptance of the ideals for which Dr. Mookerjee had struggled and sacrificed.He said over 14 crore BJP workers were moving forward under the leadership of PM Modi, guided by the same nationalist ideology and commitment to the nation with which Dr. Mookerjee had founded the Jana Sangh in 1951.
