Vijay’s ‘party funds’ charge triggers assembly Showdown, DMK walks out
A heated confrontation erupted in the Tamil Nadu Assembly after Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay alleged that money siphoned off in the name of “party funds” during the previous regime was being recovered and returned to the government treasury. The remarks drew sharp protests from DMK MLAs, led by Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, who demanded evidence and sought an immediate opportunity to respond. As the Speaker refused to intervene during the Chief Minister’s speech, tensions escalated, culminating in a walkout by the DMK. Vijay also defended his government’s stability and took aim at the Opposition over its criticism of parties supporting the ruling alliance.
