Bengaluru’s Namma Metro services on the Purple Line were disrupted during peak hours on Tuesday (June 23, 2026) evening, around 6.45 p.m., after a train developed a technical fault near Cubbon Park Metro Station in the underground section, leading to severe crowding at several stations along the corridor.In a statement, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said that a technical fault was noticed in one of the trains at Cubbon Park Metro Station. The issue was reported by the Operations Control Centre (OCC), following which operations and maintenance teams were deployed to attend to the fault on priority.Commuters stranded outside Cubbon Park metro station, after services on the Purple Line were stopped owing to technical issues, in #Bengaluru on June 23. Services in the affected underground stretch remained suspended, resulting in long waiting times and overcrowding at stations.“Efforts are under way to restore normal services at the earliest. Passengers are requested to cooperate and plan their journeys accordingly,” BMRCL stated.Commuters expressed frustration over the disruption. Ramesh S., a passenger stranded at Cubbon Park Metro Station, said that he had been waiting for nearly 40 minutes. “There have been no train operations, and no proper information is being given to passengers. Because of this, there is a huge crowd at the station,” he said.BMRCL officials said restoration work is in progress and normal services are expected to resume soon.
