Two officials were suspended on charges of dereliction of duty after paddy bags stacked at the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation-operated open storage point at Patteeswaram near Kumbakonam were drenched in the rain last week.Inquiries reveal that Superintendent Chinnadurai and Quality Control Officer Palaniappan were in charge of the operation of the Patteeswaram open storage point. They were suspended on charges of not ensuring timely movement of paddy bags to the godowns and not ensuring necessary steps to protect the paddy procured from farmers.
