The fertiliser stock available in Visakhapatnam district is enough to meet the kharif demand till the end of July, the Agriculture Department said on Tuesday.District Agriculture Officer Appalaswamy said that agricultural crops would be raised on about 5,421 hectares and horticultural crops on 4,397 hectares this kharif. Cultivation through the season, spanning April to September, would require 3,200 tonnes of fertilisers comprising 1,590 tonnes of urea, 931 tonnes of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), 179 tonnes of potash, 412 tonnes of complex fertilisers and 88 tonnes of other varieties.Against this requirement, 1,161 tonnes were available in the district as on Tuesday. The stock includes 835 tonnes of urea, 77 tonnes of DAP, 37 tonnes of potash, 146 tonnes of complex fertilisers and 63 tonnes of other varieties. Published - June 23, 2026 07:57 pm IST
