Rheumatologists face serious headwinds when it comes to cognitive testing for youth with childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE).
A recent survey-based study, published in ACR Open Rheumatology, used data from 109 responding rheumatologists and trainees to determine attitudes and practices around cognitive screening and neuropsychological evaluation. The results found a picture clouded by problems related to access, training, and more.
The Reading Room recently spoke to two paper co-authors to discuss the survey and its results. Ekemini Ogbu, MD, is a pediatric rheumatologist and physician-scientist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
