Technical talks between Iran and the United States have concluded in Switzerland, with Iranian officials announcing that the “necessary understandings” have been reached, along with an agreement to form four joint working groups. These working groups are tasked with following up on the technical details of the agreements and monitoring the implementation of commitments by both sides.
Kazem Gharibabadi, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs and head of Iran’s technical delegation, announced that the two sides agreed to establish four working groups: “Termination of Sanctions,” “Nuclear,” “Economic Reconstruction and Development,” and “Monitoring and Implementation.” According to him, these working groups will be responsible for reviewing specialized issues and continuing negotiations across various sectors.
While high-level negotiations wrapped up on Sunday and senior officials from both nations departed Switzerland, the technical delegations continued their consultations through Monday.
Concurrently, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a warning from the White House regarding the agreement process with Iran, stating: “If Iran does not abide by its agreement with Washington, I will do whatever is necessary.” He emphasized that the continuation of the positive momentum in negotiations is contingent upon the Islamic Republic “respecting” its commitments.
