As the Houston Astros meander their way to .500 after an awful April, it seems like Yordan Alvarez is involved in everything. He’s been the best hitter in Major League Baseball, though he recently said he doesn’t want to take part in the Home Run Derby. The Astros have their worst offensive outfield since the teams in 2012 and 2013 that lost well over 100 games apiece, and Alvarez said he wouldn’t mind some time in left field. But would that simply paper over a situation that requires an addition, one that wouldn’t increase Alvarez’s risk of injury? What else could general manager Dana Brown do to help the Astros earn a postseason berth in a wide-open American League?
