U.S. President Donald Trump wrote in a post on the social media platform Truth Social on Monday, June 22, that Iran will agree to “extensive weapons inspections” to ensure long-term “nuclear transparency.”
In his post, Trump emphasized: “Everyone is fully aware that Iran will agree to extensive weapons inspections to guarantee future nuclear honesty and transparency.”
Hours before these remarks, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced in a post on the social media platform X that Iran had committed to ensuring free and unhindered transit through the Strait of Hormuz and allowing International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to enter the country.
Furthermore, U.S. Vice President JD Vance told reporters before leaving the venue of the Iran-U.S. talks in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, that Iran had agreed to invite IAEA inspectors for inspections, and that this could take place “this week or even today.”
However, the state-run IRNA news agency, citing “informed officials,” reported that the Islamic Republic did not negotiate on the nuclear dossier during Sunday’s talks in Switzerland and had accepted no new commitments.
