Acting police minister Firoz Cachalia says men and women in blue are ready for June 30 amid violence concerns

Money that would ordinarily go to police stations and community policing will instead be used to foot the R600m security bill for the June 30 shutdown.

Acting police minister Firoz Cachalia disclosed the figure at a press conference on Monday, one week before the deadline set by anti-illegal immigration movement March and March.

March and March has threatened to shut the country down if undocumented foreign nationals have not left SA by its stipulated deadline.

Cachalia said police are prepared and those planning to cause trouble will be dealt with.
