THOUSANDS of Malawians, who are waiting to be processed by the Department of Home Affairs at the old Durban Drive-In site before they make their 33-hour bus trip back to Malawi, have expressed gratitude for the transportation to go home safely.

This, amid June 30 deadline for self-deportation, given by the anti-illegal immigration movement - March and March.

In the past week, reported incidents of violence, killings and assaults have driven foreign nationals out of their homes and places of work across Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

For 70-year-old Rabsool Logan Manana, who came into the country legally in 2010, the protests made him fearful for his life and forced him to flee from his home in Mayville.
