LUCKNOW: If BJP wins 2027 UP polls, it will be the last of the elections to be held in India, said Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday, adding that the saffron brigade was out to destroy democracy.“The BJP thrives on hatching conspiracies. Beware of its designs. This time, forming the Samajwadi Party govt in the assembly elections is a must, else the right to vote will be snatched away from the people,” Akhilesh said, addressing cadre at Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow.He said the BJP is misusing govt machinery to act against democracy.“The BJP is determined to destroy India’s democratic set-up. It is a testing time for Indian democracy. Samajwadi Party has always fought tooth and nail to preserve the country’s democratic values. People of the state understand this very well. This was one reason why they supported Samajwadi Party in 2024 to make it the leading political banner. Our party will continue to foil all future attempts to attack Indian democracy,” Akhilesh said.The former UP CM called upon his cadres to take nothing for granted in the upcoming assembly elections.“Every party functionary must connect with the people. Keep an eye on what the BJP is plotting and conspiring. BJP misuses technology to extremes, manipulates voters’ lists and misleads voters. We have to closely watch BJP’s each and every move and tell the people the truth,” he said.Akhilesh also asked party functionaries to be particularly cautious while responding to allegations made by rivals and say nothing that may hurt anyone’s sentiments.“The BJP wants to shift the focus of political discourse to issues other than failures of govt. We have to keep our focus on how BJP has failed to deliver in all these years of govt,” Akhilesh said.‘BJP has no answers for missing CCTV footage’Lucknow: Akhilesh said the BJP has no answers for theft of offerings by devotees at Ram Temple in Ayodhya and raised questions over missing security CCTV footage.“There has been a major misappropriation of offerings that devotees made to Maryada Purshottam Lord Ram. Now the CCTV footage of the area where the offerings were counted has gone missing. The BJP has no answers for it,” Akhilesh said.He added that such developments only added to the belief that BJP was dishonest by character.
