People jump in the Trocadero Fountain near the Eiffel Tower during a heatwave in Paris on June 22, 2026.
Two children were found dead in a car in France on Monday, believed casualties of a heatwave piling record temperatures and health warnings across much of Europe.
The youngsters, aged two and four, were found in their family car in a residential parking lot in the southern town of Carpentras, where local authorities said they believed the heatwave was the most likely reason for the deaths.
Emergency services told AFP they found the children in cardiac arrest after receiving a call around 1:20pm (local time) on Monday.
They also tended to the children's mother, who has not yet been questioned, authorities said.
