A political war of words has erupted between Elon Musk and US Representative Ro Khanna, after the lawmaker accused the Tesla CEO of potentially ‘sentencing millions of children to death’ through government spending during his time at the helm of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Speaking on the “I’ve Had It” podcast, Khanna argued that the Democratic Party must launch a full-scale investigation into Musk’s actions if they regain control of the House of Representatives or the Senate.“I do believe once we take power, there needs to be accountability. There needs to be accountability for Elon Musk," Khanna said, adding, “You know, they’re celebrating that he created 4,400 millionaires, but they don’t talk about the 4.5 million children around the world who he possibly sentenced to death by dismantling USAID.”Khanna insisted that Musk must be subpoenaed to answer for his role co-leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Podcast host Jennifer Welch echoed the sentiment, accusing the MAGA movement of hypocrisy and claiming Musk is "killing millions of the poorest people on the planet."Musk hits back: ‘Time to sue’Musk, who recently became the world’s first trillionaire following a record-breaking SpaceX IPO, did not hold back in his response. Taking to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk blasted the California lawmaker.“Time to sue this liar,” Musk posted, before deeply defending the spending cuts enacted by DOGE.“The standard applied by DOGE was very simple and easy: Provide contact information for the recipients of aid, so that we can confirm it is not fraudulent,” Musk explained on X.“The reality is that money was being sent to corrupt politicians under the guise of aid! Liars and stock insider traders like Ro the Robber should be in prison!!” he added. In a separate response to a video clip of the podcast, Musk simply wrote: “He’s such an evil liar.”The clash comes amid renewed efforts by progressive Democrats to heavily tax the ultra-wealthy. Khanna has been aggressively pushing a new legislative proposal called the “Make Billionaires Pay Their Fair Share Act.”The bill would impose a direct 5% annual wealth tax on total assets, not just income, exceeding $1 billion. Khanna claimed that a one-time 5% levy on Musk's fortune alone could fully fund universal child care across the United States.
