The Leader of the Opposition, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielagaoi and various party members have been directed by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly to vacate the parliament grounds during meal intervals.

A directive by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Auapaau Mulipola Aloitafua, was announced on Monday evening, addressing Tuilaepa.

“This is not a family’s house,” said Auapaau.

"No other member can hang out around parliament during breaks. The special area at the back is allocated to host the Speaker’s guests.”

The Speaker noted that only he and the Leader of the House, who is Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt, are allowed or permitted to remain within the parliament precinct during these breaks.
