A VERULAM man who died while out on his morning run, has been described as a “humble giant” that served with distinction and humility in the local sporting community.
Oliver Patrick, 47, of Dawncrest, is suspected to have suffered a heart attack and fell down an embankment along the southbound lane of the R102 in Ottawa on Saturday.
Prem Balram, head of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa), said its members received a call for assistance at about 8am.
“The man had been jogging with his wife and a third individual when he reportedly fell behind. After noticing his absence, the pair returned to search for him and located him about 20 metres down the embankment adjacent to the roadway. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
