Waymo Outpaces Tesla in Los Angeles Traffic
In a post on X, Gerber said he has personally ridden in Waymo cars and believes they handle Los Angeles’s busy roads much better than human drivers do. He explained that Waymo drives carefully and plans its routes smartly.
Waymo’s system is trained to avoid difficult roads, busy crossings, and tricky turns that often confuse other self-driving systems. Because of this careful style, the rides can take longer, but he believes the experience is safer and smoother.
Gerber also compared Waymo to Tesla Inc. and its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. He said both companies are not on the same level, praising Waymo’s robotaxis as far ahead of Tesla’s. He plainly stated that Waymo is much “safer and better” than Tesla and also questioned whether the Musk-led EV firm could even catch up to it in the future.
