Turkish company Baykar and Italian company Leonardo successfully completed the first stage of flight tests under the K-SWARM program, aimed at developing interaction between manned and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Baykar stated this in a comment to Ukrinform.
Baykar said that Leonardo M-346 aircraft and Bayraktar KIZILELMA unmanned fighters had successfully completed a series of joint autonomous group flights within the K-SWARM program, adding that this was an important milestone in the development of manned/unmanned teaming (CUC-T) capabilities and swarm tactics following the successful completion of the first stage of real-world testing of the K-SWARM program.
The program is aimed at designing and developing interaction and joint operations between manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. The companies believe this direction is one of the key areas in the development of future combat aviation systems and the evolution of modern fighter aviation.
The tests took place in May at one of Baykar's flight and testing centers in the city of Corlu, Turkey. They marked the first transition from computer simulation to real flights within the K-SWARM program.
