LONGi launched its battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions at a side event during the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) 2026, marking the occasion with a 300MW solar and storage agreement with developer SOLA.

The launch, attended by senior industry leaders including LONGi’s Vice President, Mr. Louis Liu, and keynote speaker Dr. Rethabile Melamu as guest of honour; highlighted LONGi’s expanding role in delivering integrated, end-to-end photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions to support Africa’s energy transition

The agreement with SOLA represents a milestone for LONGi in the region, combining large-scale solar generation with storage to improve grid stability and energy reliability.

At the event, LONGi showcased its BESS portfolio, including the M5 microgrid system, designed for weak-grid and off-grid environments. The system enables seamless switching between grid and off-grid modes with zero-millisecond transfer, while supporting scalable deployments from 250 kW to 6 MW.

It is also designed to reduce diesel generator consumption by up to 80% and integrates long-life lithium iron phosphate batteries exceeding 8,000 cycles.
