He said Tinubu was elected for a fixed four year term and remains accountable to Nigerians through the democratic process.

The Bola Tinubu-led Presidency has dismissed calls by the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, for Tinubu to resign, describing it as an unwarranted distraction.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that Obi called on Tinubu to resign from office, adding that his administration had failed to deliver on key promises made to Nigerians and has overseen a worsening of the country's economic and security situation.

Obi had made the call in a statement issued on Monday, in which he argued that accountability remains a fundamental principle of democratic governance and that leaders must be prepared to accept responsibility when they fail to meet public expectations.

The former Anambra State governor said he was prompted to reflect on leadership and accountability after listening to a speech by the British Prime Minister announcing plans to step down amid public dissatisfaction over economic challenges and unmet campaign commitments.
