Financial speculators have staged one of the most aggressive retreats from crude oil in recent years, rapidly unwinding bullish bets and building large short positions as traders increasingly wager that diplomacy between Washington and Tehran will restore Mideast oil flows and slash the geopolitical risk premium that drove prices higher during the conflict.
