The greatest opportunity for the development of Polish-Ukrainian relations lies in a victory over Russia and increasingly close military cooperation.

Renowned Polish journalist Sławomir Sierakowski made these remarks in an interview with Ukrinform.

“The greatest opportunity is Ukraine’s victory over Russia. This could resolve many problems across Europe, although it would also create a few new ones, such as competition between Polish and Ukrainian farmers. However, the EU has learned to resolve precisely such problems through negotiations, which have been successful in hundreds of cases. Why shouldn’t this work for Ukraine, and why should Poland treat Ukraine as some kind of exceptional case? That is why I continue to believe that the course of history in this region depends first and foremost on Ukraine. I am very pleased that Ukrainians are increasingly less reliant on others and are becoming more self-reliant, rather than dependent on the whims of their allies,” Sierakowski emphasized.

An important step that could prevent a deterioration in relations between Kyiv and Warsaw is ever-closer military cooperation.

“The Poles feel a need for weapons, and any real technological breakthrough achieved thanks to Ukraine will be difficult for anyone to dismiss. Ukraine has specific advantages and simply must take advantage of them,” Sierakowski stated.
