Commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains well below pre-war levels, according to data from analytics firm Kpler, despite vessels gradually returning to the strategic waterway.
Kpler recorded 71 confirmed transits over the weekend, including a peak of 35 crossings on Saturday. Before the US-Israeli war on Iran, between 100 and 130 vessels passed through the strait each day.
The strait's main central shipping channel remains mined and closed. Instead, vessels are using the smaller northern route through Iranian territorial waters and the southern route through Omani waters.
