NewsUK NewsDrowningsDevon schoolboy Delvin Tinashe Musakwa, 13, went swimming with friends at Clapperbrook Bridge in Exeter but tragically drowned minutes after entering the water17:58, 22 Jun 2026Updated 18:03, 22 Jun 2026A schoolboy tragically drowned just minutes after jumping into the Exeter Canal.‌Delvin Tinashe Musakwa, 13, had gone swimming with friends at Clapperbrook Bridge on May 5, 2025, an inquest heard.‌The football fan jumped into the water after a friend got in and safely returned to land, an inquest at Devon Coroner's Court in Exeter heard.‌When Delvin failed to return to the surface, several members of the public entered the water in a desperate bid to rescue him.Tragically, despite their best efforts, the youngster's body was recovered from the canal around 25 minutes later.
