Lithuania's Foreign Ministry said Monday the country opened a honorary consulate in Peterborough in the United Kingdom, headed by businessman Matthew John Dalton.
Dalton is the head of the family business Dalton Seeds and serves on the boards of the UK Agricultural Association and England Athletics, as well as participating in various sporting, cultural and community initiatives.
The ministry said the newly appointed honorary consul is active in the Peterborough Lithuanian community, which it described as one of the biggest in the UK.
There are currently five Lithuanian honorary consulates operating in the country.
