A delegation of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders visited the family of Perupogu Kranthi Kumar on Monday and met his father, social activist Pērupogu Venkateswara Rao, expressing solidarity and assuring support to the bereaved family. Former Ministers Merugu Nagarjuna and Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao, former MLA Kaili Anil Kumar, Tiruvuru YSRCP in-charge Nallagatla Swamidas, and party leader Kommoori Kanaka Rao were among those visited the family.Speaking to the media, Mr. Nagarjuna alleged that Kranthi Kumar’s death followed harassment by a police officer and referred to a purported selfie video recorded by the deceased. He questioned why authorities had not initiated action on their own despite the existence of the video and demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. He also called for a case to be registered under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and alleged that the government responded only after YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy raised the issue.Mr. Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao described the incident as a failure of the government to protect vulnerable sections and sought immediate action against those responsible, adequate compensation for the family, and a transparent investigation. Other YSRCP leaders reiterated demands for accountability, a non-bailable case against the accused, and expeditious justice for Kranthi Kumar’s family. Published - June 22, 2026 08:15 pm IST
