Swayam, an initiative of Government of India to bridge the digital divide for learning, has started free enrolment for its Massive Open Online Course ( MOOC) on photojournalism.Radhika Khanna, course instructor for MOOC and Associate professor, Department of Electronic Media and Mass Communication, Pondicherry University, in a release said the course would start on July 13 and end on October 13. It is designed as a 15 week programme comprising 50 lessons and five academic credits. Academic credit could be transferred across India as per UGC guidelines, the release said. Learners of any age will have an opportunity to develop their photography and visual storytelling skills under the guidance of reputed practitioners. In line with the National Education Policy and Government of India’s ‘skilling India’ Mission, the five- credit course has been designed to encourage self-employment and inspire learners from all disciplines to explore photography and photojournalism, the release said. The content of the course has been designed to develop conceptual knowledge and practical skills. Completion of the course could lead to career opportunities in the creative field of photography and photojournalism. More details could be had from swayam.gov.in, the release said.
