Serasiya Milan Ramnikbhai, 30, and Mangroliya Manojkumar Kurjibhai, 41, both Indian nationals, were formally charged with "theft" on June 20.
The Singapore Police Force said in a statement that the men are accused of taking the diamond from a staff member at a store on Kreta Ayer Road on June 19.

Preliminary findings suggest the pair posed as customers interested in purchasing the high-value diamond. While inspecting the gem, they allegedly swapped it with a fake stone before leaving the store without making a purchase.
The deception was only discovered shortly after their departure when the store staff conducted a standard verification check on the returned stone.
