MANILA, Philippines — The surge in child stunting stresses the urgency of enacting the House-approved National Nutrition Program, Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III said in a statement on Monday.
The program, under House Bill No. 9466, seeks to expand nutrition interventions for Filipino children, mothers, and vulnerable sectors, Dy pointed out.
“The House prioritized this measure [House because we recognized that hunger and malnutrition are not only health issues — they are education issues, economic issues, and ultimately nation-building issues,” Dy, one of the principal authors of the measure, said.
