The spokesperson for the entity designated by the Islamic Republic as the “Headquarters for Commemorating the Bloody Ascension of the Martyred Imam of the Ummah” has announced that the funeral and burial ceremonies for Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Republic, will commence on July 6 and conclude on July 9 at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad. This marks the first time government officials have commented on the timeline for Ali Khamenei’s burial.

According to the official announcement released by the headquarters, the ceremony to pay final respects to Khamenei’s body will be held for two days, starting Monday, July 6, at the Tehran Mosalla. Additionally, a funeral procession will take place in the city of Qom on July 7.

The announcement noted that the bodies of “Dr. Mesbah-al-Hoda Bagheri,” “Seyyedeh Bushra Hosseini Khamenei,” “Zahra Haddad-Adel,” and “Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani” will also be processed alongside Khamenei’s body.

The spokesperson further stated that on July 8, at the request of officials and groups in Iraq, a separate funeral procession will be held in the cities of Najaf and Karbala. According to the official, the timing and details of these ceremonies will be announced by Iraqi authorities.
