People usually don't have a bone to pick with man's best friend... until nowRachel Vickers-Price UK and World News Reporter07:17, 22 Jun 2026Most seasoned travellers have put up with their share of snoring seatmates, screaming babies, and armrest hogs during a flight.‌But, as per now-viral footage shared to social media, it seems that man's best friend can be just as badly behaved mid-flight as the best of them. One stunned passenger took to social media to share a clip they captured on a recent flight of a dog enjoying a first-class view from a place many reckon should be strictly paws off. The pooch was perched on a tray table. The footage, shared on X (formerly Twitter ), shows the tiny canine sitting comfortably while gazing out of the window taking in the sky-high scenery. While the pup looked perfectly relaxed, people online were anything but.‌Content cannot be displayed without consent‌Many X users were aghast at the dog's choice of seat, with some branding the pup's perch as "disgusting" and "totally unacceptable". The outraged user who shared the clip said: "This woman brought her dog on the flight with her. But the dog was not inside its carrier as it is supposed to be. "You can see she has the tray table folded down and yep, that’s her dog sitting on top of it... I love dogs but this totally unacceptable. That’s just wrong. Disgusting. Don’t forget to bring wipes with you and clean off your tray tables." But the mortified social media user didn't stop there. They then put the question out to the Twitterverse: "What would you have done? Would you have said something directly to the dog owner or would you have let the airline attendants handle it?"Commenters were quick to sink their teeth into the doggy debate.‌One user said: "People are unbelievable." A second added: "Love dogs, but a tray table isn't a dog bed. Airline rules exist for a reason — let the flight crew handle it." A third replied: "Yuck. In defence of the dog, it's apparent its owner has no lap for the dog to sit on."Not everyone was phased by it, however. One person questioned the uproar, asking: "Maybe it's just me, but I thought the plane was cleaned after every flight?"Article continues belowAnother said: "Could be worse. Could be a honey badger."It's unclear whether the dog in the viral clip was a service animal or whether flight attendants stepped in to put a leash on pup-themed flight fuss.Regardless, the seven-second clip has since divided opinion online to the point of going viral, with many taking to the comments section to argue stricter enforcement of airline rules on flights, while others were happy to look the other way for man's best friend. For most airlines, if small dogs are allowed in the cabin, they are expected to stay tucked away in a carrier beneath the seat in front. Larger pets usually travel in specially controlled cargo areas. Service dogs are generally the exception to the rule and can remain with their handlers in the cabin.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌PlanesTravelAir travelDogsViralAnimals
