Lakapi Samoa Chairman Namulauulu Sami Leota has been formally appointed by World Rugby as Samoa’s representative on the World Rugby Council.

The appointment was confirmed by Lakapi Samoa in a statement issued on Monday. Lakapi Samoa said the appointment recognises the union’s constitutional processes and ensures Samoa continues to have a voice at the highest level of international rugby governance.

The World Rugby Council is the sport’s supreme decision-making body and is responsible for key areas including governance, competitions, player welfare, high performance, and the global development of rugby.

Namulauulu said the appointment was not about an individual, but about ensuring Samoa remains represented in important decisions affecting the game.

“I am honoured to represent Lakapi Samoa and the people of Samoa, and I remain committed to advancing the interests of our players, supporters and the wider Pacific rugby family,” he said.
