Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israeli soldiers will remain at their positions in Lebanon and have the authority to act without restrictions to eliminate any threats to Israel.

Reuters stated this in an article, according to Ukrinform.

On Friday, a ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah came into effect after months of escalating hostilities. However, on Saturday at least 20 people were killed in Israeli strikes, according to Lebanon's state news agency NNA. Israel said the strikes were a response to attacks carried out by Hezbollah against its forces in southern Lebanon.

Katz said Israeli troops would remain at all positions within the so-called security zone, which extends approximately 10 kilometers into southern Lebanon.

Katz said that there had been no restrictions on Israel Defense Forces soldiers in Lebanon regarding the elimination of threats.
