President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Polish President Karol Nawrocki presented him with a book about the Volhynia tragedy during their first meeting.

The Ukrainian President disclosed this in an interview with 1+1 TV channel, Ukrinform reports.

“He (Karol Nawrocki) speaks about supporting Ukraine, although he has never been here. Okay, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been here many times. Poland supports us, the Polish people support us. Fine, it is up to him to decide his priorities and where to travel. But I came to see him, on my first visit, and his gift to me when we shook hands was books about the Volhynia tragedy,” Zelensky said.

He also noted that Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov and First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia had attempted to resolve the dispute surrounding the revocation of Zelensky’s Order of the White Eagle, but were unsuccessful because of the Polish side’s position.

“They genuinely tried to speak with everyone – the President’s office, the Prime Minister’s team, and the Speaker’s team. They did everything they could. But they returned with the feeling that they were going to go ahead with it,” Zelensky said.
