Proteas Women's allrounder delivered a Player of the Match performance in the epic ICC T20 Women's World Cup victory over India in Manchester on Sunday.
The Proteas Women’s T20 World Cup campaign has been revived. And after their epic six-wicket victory over India at Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday, they will feel anything is indeed possible now.
At the halfway stage of their run chase, they looked dead, if not yet buried. They required exactly 100 runs from the final 60 balls to overtake India’s 158/7. Having achieved it with five balls to spare, courtesy of Marizanne Kapp’s magical unbeaten 81, they will now believe they can beat any opponent from any position.
The Proteas’ effort in the Powerplay was a dismal 25/2, punctuated by a double-wicket maiden over from Shree Charani (3/24).
The tournament’s highest wicket-taker held on to a superb caught-and-bowled chance to claim the massive wicket of Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt (20) before clean bowling Annerie Dercksen for a duck two balls later.
