Former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and veteran actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, have called for stronger collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship at the Afretrade Entrepreneurs’ Festival in Lagos.
The three-day event, which held from June 17 to June 19 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and Diaspora leaders to explore pathways for Africa’s economic growth through trade, innovation and strategic partnerships.
A key highlight of the opening day was a panel session focused on leveraging the Lagos–California Sister-State Partnership to address economic barriers and promote shared prosperity.
Speaking during the session, RMD highlighted the role of Nigeria’s creative industry in shaping Africa’s global identity.
“It is through Nigerian films that we dominated Africa, and it is through Nigerian films that we set the stage for afrobeats,” he said.
