The development was confirmed on Saturday in Abuja by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho.

The Nigerian Navy has said its operatives busted an illegal mining network in Bayelsa State after intercepting two wooden boats allegedly used to transport large quantities of black sand mined without authorisation, leading to the arrest of 13 suspects.

The development was confirmed on Saturday in Abuja by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho.

Folorunsho said the operation was carried out as part of ongoing maritime security operations aimed at curbing environmental and economic crimes in Nigeria’s coastal waters.
