A British motorbike rider was left fighting for his life after a head-on collision with a car in northern Spain yesterday.The 64-year-old was rushed to hospital in an air ambulance and is said to be in a 'very serious' condition following the crash.He collided with a pick-up truck driven by a 50-year-old Spanish woman as he rode his motorbike on the N-260 road in the municipality of Montanuy, close to the Catalan border.Emergency medical responders treated him at the scene before taking him to Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in the city of Lerida 85 miles south of the crash.The driver of the car was unharmed in the crash which occurred at about 7.40am on June 19. An investigation by the Civil Guard, the police force leading the probe, was still ongoing this morning and a cause of the collision is not yet known.It is also not clear whether the motorbike rider was travelling with others or alone. Hospital officials have yet to offer an update on the man's condition but he was said to be in a 'very serious' condition when he was transported to hospital - first in an ambulance before being taken the rest of the way in a helicopter. Just days earlier, a British couple aged 78 and 58 died after their Ferrari skidded off the road and plunged into a river in Boca de Huergano in the province of Leon, around four hours west of that fatal accident.The pair, driving a UK-plated vehicle, were found by rescuers after they reached the black Ferrari 488’s remains lying in the Yuso river.
