Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a swipe at Uddhav Thackeray while addressing a public gathering in Kolhapur on June 20, as political turmoil deepened within Shiv Sena (UBT). Shah's remarks came after six of Shiv Sena (UBT)'s nine Lok Sabha MPs skipped a parliamentary meeting in Delhi and sought recognition as a separate group by writing to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The rebel MPs are expected to formally join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, a move that would further strengthen the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
