Government Whip Balmoor Venkat warned that Congress workers and Telangana youth would oppose the visit of BJP MP Tejasvi Surya to Hyderabad if he attends the proposed ‘Namo Gen Z Conclave’ without first apologising for his earlier remarks comparing Telangana with Pakistan.Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, he alleged that Mr. Surya’s comments had insulted the sentiments of the people of Telangana and reflected the BJP’s attitude towards the State. He said BJP leaders who had failed to condemn the remarks in Parliament were now inviting the Bengaluru South MP to participate in programmes in Hyderabad.“Before attending any event in Telangana, Mr. Tejasvi Surya should offer an unconditional apology to the people of the State. If he arrives without apologising, we will certainly oppose his visit,” Mr. Venkat said.He described the proposed Gen Z conclave as ironic, alleging that the ruling party at the Centre had failed to address issues affecting students and playing with the future of students through examination paper leaks.
